The Sports Celebrity Dinner last night was great. Catriona Le May Doan did an excellent job with her keynote, and both the live and silent auctions brought in great support for the Themes Valley Childrens Centre. More photos from the night can be found over in this Flickr set.

Sports Celebrity Dinner & Auction

I have the chance to attend the Rogers Sports Celebrity Dinner & Auction tonight in London. The event is being held at The London Convention Centre and features Catriona Le May Doan as the keynote speaker as well as special guests Doug Gilmour and Dave “Tiger” Williams. This is a great event raising money for the Thames Valley Children’s Centre with silent and live auction as well as other raffles and 50/50 tickets. I’ve had the opportunity to attend a few times in the past and there is always a great meal and amazing speakers. If you ever have a chance to go it is well worth it. I’m hoping to be allowed to take my good camera in, I’ve taken other point and shoots before but never a DSLR, so hopefully I’ll have some great pictures to share sometime later this week. Stay tuned for that as well as a recap of the event!

World’s Largest PubCrawl Comes to London

Catching up on the latest news in my feeds this morning I came across and event posted on Eventful for “The World’s Largest PubCrawl.” They are holding it in a few cities in Canada including London.
.
From the “why” section on their site:
.
To break a Guinness World Record™ for the Largest Pub Crawl. No sorry, to blow away a Guinness World Record for Largest Pub Crawl, currently held by London, England. They recorded 2440 total valid participants. HIP wants to at least triple that number this year. We need your help to make it all happen. Please follow the instructions on the Guinness™ World Records passport to assure your participation is counted. We will 100% achieve the record this year, as we have implemented new measures to assure this.
.
It’s all happening on February 9th starting at 4:30pm and I’m guessing it’ll end when ever they participants get kicked out of the last bar! It’s not all about the drinking, they want it to be a social event and they are contributing a bunch of money to charity as well! For each ticket that sold a portion goes into a $10,000 Student Union Bursary fund. It is given to the Student Union with the most participants per student population. As well they are planting a Nova Scotia Balsam fir for each ticket sold and when the tree matures, it is cut down, sold as a Holiday tree and a portion of that tree sale goes back into a charity. You also have a chance to win some money yourself. One name will be randomly selected from the Guinness World Record’s Passport cards who are returned, for each city, and they will win a $1000 cash prize.
.
If anyone is interested head over to http://www.worldslargestpubcrawl.com/london/ for all the info. I’m seriously considering getting out to this, it sound like a lot of fun and a great chance to get a lot of great pictures as well as video and met some fun people! If your planning on going shoot me an email and maybe we can meet there and I may even buy a round or two!
