A Glowing Review of Auberge du Petit Prince
So a while back Michelle and I had a special dinner date, it was our anniversary, and I had heard about a place that has a history in London as a great place to eat. From what I’m told it had been Auberge du Petit Prince for a long time then had gone out of business and been changes to a couple other restaurants and now has been re opened under the original name by Nicole Arroyas the daughter of the owners of the London Archie’s restaurant. Right from the start my experence was great, when I called to make the reservation they actually asked me if it was a special occasion, that was a first for me. It was kinda cool to walk in and once they knew who I was they catered to the face that it was our anniversary! This is a great touch for any restaurant.
The atmosphere of the dining rooms is very nice, it was comfortable and very interesting and the menu was more then adequate. Michelle and I both had a steak, Michelle had the NY Strip and I had the Rib Eye. Both were prepared exactly as ordered but I found that my cut was not the best I’ve ever had but tasted great. The Brie Fritters as an appetizer was something that I tried, going out on a limb for me, and I personally like them.
One of the coolest things we found with Auberge was the wine corking, you can but a bottle of wine and what you don’t drink they will re-cork and wrap up for you to take home. This is the best idea, for everyone. I usually don’t buy bottles of wine when it’s just Michelle and I out for dinner as it’s just Michelle drinking white and just me drinking red so buying two and not drinking them or drinking them and not being able to drive is not a great option, but being able to take them home with you is! We bought two bottle, one of each, and drank a couple glasses with dinner and took them home to finish later. We got to enjoy our choice of any wine on the menu with dinner and not waste the wine or the money and the restaurant makes a sale they likely wouldn’t have.
In the end our experience there was great and I’d recommend you try them out for any occasion, their lunch menu also looks amazing, I’d like to try it sometime!
